With a spacious 20&#8242; x 10&#8242; booth area and strong show support, the San Diego Section was able to showcase a wide variety of IEEE activities and connect with many interested engineers and professionals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-998\" src=\"https:\/\/sdieee.org\/sdieee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2025-04-23-16.57.10-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sdieee.org\/sdieee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2025-04-23-16.57.10-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sdieee.org\/sdieee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2025-04-23-16.57.10-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sdieee.org\/sdieee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2025-04-23-16.57.10-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sdieee.org\/sdieee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2025-04-23-16.57.10-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sdieee.org\/sdieee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2025-04-23-16.57.10-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-xl font-bold text-text-100 mt-1 -mb-0.5\">Event Highlights<\/h2>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The show produced an impressive 35 IEEE-sponsored events, including a variety of certificate-granting technical talks, student robotics demonstrations, author signing sessions, and live demonstrations of new open source digital radio protocols.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-xl font-bold text-text-100 mt-1 -mb-0.5\">Volunteer Recognition<\/h2>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Special thanks to Mike Bryant who coordinated our presence at the show, along with the dedicated team of volunteers who staffed the booth, including Valeri Paul, Paul Williamson, Greg Laugle, Enrique Monteagudo, and Michelle Thompson.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-xl font-bold text-text-100 mt-1 -mb-0.5\">Women in Engineering Panel<\/h2>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The San Diego IEEE Women in Engineering hosted a well-received panel discussion that offered PDH credits. Panelists included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"[&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc space-y-1.5 pl-7\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Dr. Justina Sanchez<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Dr. Tracy Nguyen<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Ashmeet Kaur Chandok<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Grethel Cabuto<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-997\" src=\"https:\/\/sdieee.org\/sdieee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/20250427_191814.heic\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The panel received excellent reviews and helped extend the IEEE community. Several notable connections were made between attendees and Upal Mahbub, our San Diego Section Chair.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-xl font-bold text-text-100 mt-1 -mb-0.5\">Visitor Highlights<\/h2>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Our booth attracted a diverse group of visitors including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"[&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc space-y-1.5 pl-7\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">A Life Member who was thrilled to learn about the restoration of the Life Member Affinity Group<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Consultants Network members seeking to expand their connections to PCB manufacturing<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Engineers from aerospace circuits and systems who discovered the relevant IEEE society<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">DSP engineers interested in the Open Source Digital Radio demonstrations<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Maria Hatfield, PhD from Dattel (a data architectural firm) who has already participated in IEEE webinars<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Mark Oberman from UC San Marcos who visited with his students and connected with Greg Laugle<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Engineers from Aerotech with questions about IEEE<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Representatives from L3 Harris providing updates on SDSU IEEE student branch elections<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Engineers specializing in power reduction for IoT and embedded devices<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Dispatch Tech personnel who gave a talk and had their own booth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Several visitors were encouraged to apply for Senior Membership, and numerous connections were made between attendees and IEEE&#8217;s specialized groups.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"text-xl font-bold text-text-100 mt-1 -mb-0.5\">Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The Del Mar Electronics and Manufacturing Show continues to be an excellent venue for IEEE San Diego Section. Its manageable size and friendly atmosphere make it ideal for demonstrations, workshops, and networking. Last year featured a popular soldering kit activity, and this year&#8217;s demonstrations were equally engaging.<\/p>\n<p>Below, see some of the over-the-air demonstrations at the booth, with a &#8220;special guest&#8221; analog tachometer towards the end.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nkvoAmOoY9o\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">If you have photos or videos from the event, please consider sharing them for our newsletter and social media channels.
